School Closing Procedures

You can now sign up to get a text message and/or e-mail alert whenever your school, daycare, church, business or other registered area organization announces it's been delayed or closed. Plus, you can receive alerts for multiple schools and organizations.

The following procedures will be followed if weather conditions necessitate school closing, delayed school opening or early dismissal:

School Closing: if it is necessary to close school due to adverse weather conditions, the announcement will be made over the following radio and TV stations:

W.H.U.C. - Hudson - 1230 AM 

 W.F.G.B. - Kingston - 89.7 AM

W.G.Y.    - Schenectady - 810 AM

 W.P.T.R. - Albany - 1540 AM

W.C.K.L. - Catskill - 560 AM

 W.T.E.N. - Albany - Channel 10 TV

W.G.H.Q. - Kingston - 94.3 FM

 W.R.O.W. - Schenectady - 590 AM

W.R.G.B. - Schenectady - Channel 6 TV      

 

Delayed Opening: should weather conditions be such that school might be able to open safely later than the regular starting time, notices of such starting times will be broadcast over the regular radio/TV stations listed above.

Early Closing: if an unexpected storm necessitates the closing of school earlier than the regular dismissal time, such notice will be broadcast over the radio/TV stations listed above. (If school is closed during the day due to adverse weather conditions, all evening activities are cancelled.)
