AL KASPER MEMORIAL COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD – Donated by the Germantown Booster Club to a senior whose actions exemplify a caring spirit, has the highest standards of excellence, dedication and accomplishments and who demonstrates outstanding volunteer service and civic participation
ALMA ROGERS SENIOR MUSIC AWARD – Donated by the Reformed Church of Germantown to the 12th grade student who has contributed most to the school in either vocal or instrumental music
AMANDUS O. FUCHS JR. MEMORIAL AWARD – Donated by the community to the senior who will be attending college full time who has used their energy, hard work, humor, dedication and passion for knowledge to help his community and those around him
AMERICAN HISTORY AWARD – Donated by the Jennings Willet Post of the American Legion to the senior who has attained the highest grade in the study of American History
AMERICAN RED CROSS SCHOLARSHIP – Donated by The American Red Cross to the senior who exemplifies dedication and hard work and gives unselfishly to their school and community organizations
ANNUAL CATHARINE & H.R. MORTENSON AWARD – Given by the Germantown Teachers’ Association and administered by the Student Loan Committee to the senior entering the field of education
B.J. GERLACH MEMORIAL AWARD – Given by the family to a senior who has shown great academic improvement and is pursuing a college career in physical education or in an athletic related field
BOBBI RAE KILGOUR, BRUCE ALLEN KILGOUR &VINCENT FUNK MEMORIAL AWARD – Given by Robert A. & Myrtie Ann Kilgour to a senior pursuing an Automotive Career
BOOSTER CLUB TOP TEN AWARD – Donated by the GCS Booster Club to the students who are in the top ten of the senior class attending Germantown Central School full time 3 out of the 4 years of high school
CAROLYN GANNON MEMORIAL AWARD – Sponsored by the G.T.A. and presented to a graduating senior who best exemplifies the energy, enthusiasm, zest and passion for learning which we associate with Mrs. Gannon’s approach to every project she undertook
CHRISTIAN CORRADINO MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP – To the senior who has displayed the most improvement in the game of baseball over the last four years
COLUMBIA GREENE BOARD OF REALTORS – To the senior planning to attend Columbia Greene Community College
COMMUNITY BETTERMENT AWARD – Donated by the Clermont Fire Company to a senior who has donated time, talent, and hard work to the betterment of their community
COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD – Given by the Germantown Hose Company #1 to the senior who most likely will become a civic-minded, participating citizen in their community as an adult determined by their participation in community and school affairs as a student
COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD – Donated by the Ladies Auxiliary of Linlithgo to a student who shows citizenship qualities and is a civic-minded community member
COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD – Donated by Barns & Farms Realty LLC to the senior for efforts to help bring together and develop local communities and promote international understanding
DONALD J HINKEIN MEMORIAL AWARD – Given by the Family to the senior who exemplifies dedication to his/her family
EILEEN MILLER MEMORIAL AWARD – Donated by family and friends to the student who plans to pursue a career in nursing. An essay to include student’s interest in nursing, community service and teacher recommendation is required
ELLIOT BANKS MEMORIAL VOCAL MUSIC AWARD – Donated by the Germantown Central School Alumni Association to the senior who has been an outstanding vocal music student
EXCELLENCE IN ENGLISH AWARD – Donated by the Choinsky family in memory of Frank and Florence Choinsky to a student who has shown a mastery in grammar, proper English, and above all, is a clear and fluent speaker and has shown excellence in English, both written and verbal and has attended GCS at least grades 9-12
GARDEN CLUB AWARD – Donated by the Germantown Garden Club to the student who plans to pursue studies to improve the quality of life of man and his environment
GERMANTOWN LIONS CLUB ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP – Given by the Germantown Lions Club in the amount of $250 to be paid upon completion of the first semester of college
GIRLS ATHLETIC AWARD – Donated by Mr. Dale Flansburg to the senior girl who has exhibited sportsmanship throughout her years of athletic participation
GREATEST EFFORT AWARD – Donated by Mason’s Monumental Lodge # 374 of Tivoli to the senior who has shown the greatest effort in achieving their goals throughout high school
HARALDSEN AWARD – Given by the Germantown Booster Club to a senior who has leadership abilities who participated in school activities and who gives of herself/himself unselfishly to family, school and community
HIGH SCHOOL COMPUTER AWARD – Donated by Mr. Peter Fingar, in memory of his father, Luther Fingar, to the senior who has shown the greatest achievement and aptitude in computer science
HUDSON RIVER TRUST CITIZENSHIP AWARD – Given to a graduating senior who intends to pursue higher education or military service and who has demonstrated good citizenship and community involvement throughout his/her high school career as evidenced by participation in activities in an outside of school
INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC AWARD – Donated by the Germantown Central School Alumni Association to the senior who has been an outstanding instrumental music student
JAMES CALDWELL MEMORIAL AWARD – A scholarship to a female to continue in her pursuit of a higher education in an athletic endeavor or physical education
JANET LASHER AGENCY AWARD – Given to the student with outstanding effort in promoting SADD
JENNINGS WILLETT AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY AWARD – Given to the senior that donated the most time and effort to the SADD program
JOHN PHILIP SOUSA AWARD – Presented to a senior band member who has shown superior musicianship, leadership, dependability, loyalty and cooperation
LAW ENFORCEMENT AWARD – In memory of Judge George C. Inman to the senior who will pursue a career in law enforcement
LELAND L. CRAWFORD & RAYMOND R. CRAWFORD MEMORIAL AWARD – A $300 cash award donated by Crawford & Associates Engineering Associates to be given to a graduating senior who has demonstrated excellence in science and math and who will be attending college on a full-time basis pursuing a course of study that incorporates science and math. Preference will be given to a student pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Engineering
LINLITHGO FIRE COMPANY SCHOLARSHIP AND EDUCATION FUND – Given by the Linlithgo Fire Company to two graduating seniors who plan to attend college to pursue a career in firematics, emergency services, nursing or related field. Preference is given to students that are a direct descendent of a person who was a Linlithgo Fire Company volunteer for at least one year. Scholarship is awarded upon completion of the first semester of college *download application*
LOUIS ARMSTRONG AWARD – For a senior Jazz Chorus member who has shown superior musicianship, leadership, dependability, loyalty, and cooperation
LYLE R. FIESER MEMORIAL AWARD – Given by his family to a student who participated in the Envirothon
MARY E. HARDER AWARD – Given by the Germantown Booster Club to the senior who has demonstrated outstanding qualities of leadership, dedication and spirit through a total commitment to numerous school and community activities
MOST IMPROVEMENT AWARD – Donated by the Ladies Auxiliary of Germantown Hose Company #1 to the senior who has shown the most improvement in four years
NATIONAL SCHOOL CHORAL AWARD – For a senior chorus member who has shown superior musicianship, leadership, dependability, loyalty, and cooperation
NYSSMA AWARD – Given by the Booster Club to the senior who participated in the NYSSMA Music Festival (omitted 2009)
PTSA HIGH ACHIEVEMENT AWARD – Given by the PTSA to the students with a cumulative average of 90 or higher throughout high school (3 out of the 4 years attending Germantown full-time)
RENEE DELPOZZO MEMORIAL AWARD – Donated by her family to a senior girl who most exemplifies the qualities of care, consideration, concern and help for others
RICHARD MOSSMAN MEMORIAL AWARD – Donated by the G.T.A. to the student who shares the same love for the arts, sports, and academics as Richard Mossman did
SALUTATORIAN AWARD – Donated by the Germantown Lions Club for fine academic achievement
SCOTT D. HERMANCE AWARD – Given by the Donald R Kline Family to the senior who plans a career in automotive mechanics or a career in the trades
SCOTT D. HERMANCE MEMORIAL AWARD – Given by his family to a graduating senior who exemplifies dedication to family, the community, and the willingness to help others in need, without expecting any personal recognition or gain
SENIOR CITIZENSHIP AWARD – Given by the PTSA to the senior who has indicated to an outstanding degree the best qualities of a good school citizen
SENIOR COMPUTER SCIENCE AWARD – Donated by the Germantown Telephone Company to the student that exhibited the greatest amount of interest and aptitude in the field of computer science
STEVEN M. MELLEY LAW STUDIES SCHOLARSHIP AWARD – Given by Attorney Steven M. Melley of Rhinebeck to a senior at each high school who demonstrates great interest and high achievement in the field of law studies
TACONIC FARMS LIFE SCIENCE SCHOLARSHIP – Presented to a senior who has attained the highest average in Science over 4 years of high school and will be attending college on a full time basis in the Fall
TOWN HIGHWAY SUPERINTENDENTS’ ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP – Donated by the Columbia County Town Highway Superintendents to a student who plans on pursuing a career in architecture or engineering
VALEDICTORIAN AWARD – Donated by the Germantown Lions Club for superior academic achievement
VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS AWARD – Donated by the GCS Drama Club in memory of Diane Zipp to be given to a student who demonstrates ability in Art, Theater, or Visual Arts
WILLIAM ATES MEMORIAL AWARD – Given to the student who demonstrates exceptional kindness to his/her peers.
YOUNG AMERICAN AWARD – Donated by Joan Snyder and family to the senior boy who exemplifies all the good qualities of the average young American
