Germantown Elementary School Gym

The Germantown Board of Education is inviting all members of the community to a public roundtable event scheduled for Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 7 p.m.  The focus of the discussion will be the future of the Germantown school district.

What is the World-Café?

A World-Café forum is an interactive group discussion where all people in attendance will have an opportunity to voice their ideas and perspectives.  Attendees will be dispersed to small tables creating a social environment for intimate discussion on key questions facing the district. Periodically, at the direction of the facilitator, people will circulate to other tables to meet new people, discuss different questions, and share new ideas. Since multiple conversations occur simultaneously on a number of topics, more information can be shared.  This event is designed to produce more involvement from the community than ordinary open meetings.

The questions to be addressed at this forum include:

1.         What are the essential programs and services for Germantown students you would like to see continued?

2.         What is the full range of options the district should examine with neighboring districts?

3.         If it becomes necessary to propose a tax levy increase greater than property tax levy limit, how will the community respond? What would the community support? What are the alternatives?

4.         Are there innovative options or new educational models we should consider to break free from the traditional school that we have known?

The event will be hosted by Dr. Andrew DeFeo, Assistant Superintendent Questar III and the Questar III Communications team.
